Requires Moran Scientific MCA, X-Ray Mapping and Automatic Stage Control Systems. A Feature Recognition and Analysis (FRA(™)), or Gun Shot Residue (GSR), program is available to select features using set selection criteria from a Back Scattered Electron (BSE) image and then analysis of the resulting particles found. (Analyses >1000 per hour @ 2 sec per point). The program acquires a video signal from a Back Scatter Electron detector, then selects the particles by applying upper and lower threshold levels using slider bars or manual entry of limits. Video Images may be acquired using resolutions from 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 to 4096 pixels/frame. While acquisition is in progress particles are classified as "found" if they fall within the grey level specified and this is termed "primary selection". A set of secondary criteria are then applied to these particles using the following: Area minimum and maximum limit, Perimeter minimum and maximum limit, Shape Factor minimum and maximum limit and Border contact. If "To be analysed" is selected, then particles which satisfy the above secondary selection criteria may then be analysed using normal analysis files. Up to 6 elements may be reported. Quantitative results and integrals are printed to file along with all the above selected selection criteria. The Analysis setup parameters include the following : Analysis File (Standards or Standardless) and Acquisition Time. All data provided by the program is compatible with Microsoft Excel file format and is easily moved to it for further data manipulation. All results including classification, particle number, shape factor, maximum and minimum diameters and weight percent are presented in tabular form. The coordinates of all particles are stored to disk to allow a re-analysis of any particular particle at another time to confirm the composition of that particle. |
